How to make an effective Wayside Pulpit

Ray the Faithful. Rest in Peace Ray!Witnessing to your neighbourhood and gaining a significant community profile isn't difficult. Expensive and national church advertising campaigns seldom connect with people as effectively as imaginative advertising on a shoe string.

Are Wayside Pulpits always best?

Wayside Pulpits are not appropriate for churches tucked out of the way or the sort of fellowships that would freak out visitors. I'd also request churches geared on the Toronto Blessing not to invite unbelievers in at all!

Lunatic Fringe aside, the principle of evangelistic gospel preaching churches making a visual impact on their community is indisputable. Gospel preaching churches need to be known in their area.

Key Tips for Church Pastors and UK Evangelists

These bullet points will give you good pointers and examples of where I really got it right... and really got it wrong!

Effective Wayside Pulpit

cheap and cheerful

Should you get them off the internet?

A UK evangelist must be relevant and that takes thought. This was a little series where I stopped thinking and simply tried some internet stuff. These type of signs look great on the internet, but in real life they didn't have nearly the impact as the others.

Wayside Pulpits that Work

What makes these good is that they are aimed at the specific community in mind, gospel orientated and about real life issues. UK Evangelist style!

On the Buses?

bigger is betterYou can also use adverts on the buses, on the inside of tubes, trains, railway and bus stations. Don't just copy my wall, think! Where do you meet? Who do you want to be noticed by? The important thing is not to copy what worked for me, but to learn from the principles:

Know your neighbours, grasp who God wants you to reach and communicate in a way that is relevant to those very people.

Personal Guru and No 1 UK Evangelist

I learned my Wayside Pulpit craft from Reverend Brian Grist, my senior pastor in Carlisle, Cumbria twenty years ago. He is still the Number One UK Evangelist when it comes to thinking outside the box. For the most dramatic Evangelist in the world I reckon Benny Hinn rates Number 1, even Brian can't top him.
